Australian shopping centre owner, developer and manager AMP Capital Shopping Centres has launched eMall, a free eCommerce platform for its bricks-and-mortar retailers.

Through the AMPCSC centre website, the eMall allows shoppers to visit a specific retailer’s eCommerce site directly and purchase products, thus, generating traffic to their tenants' websites. The company says the concept also enhances customers' familiarity with retailer’s products and services before they head into physical stores.

The new eCommerce platform was pioneered by retailers Lowes, Diva, Betts and Darrell Lea stores will be rolled out in seven AMPCSC centres around the country including Pacific Fair, Mt Ommaney Centre, Macquarie Centre, Warringah Mall, Knox Shopping Centre, Garden City Booragoon and Karrinyup Shopping Centre.

“By offering this free service we are assisting our retailers to meet the needs of connected consumers now and in the future. Our aim is to also help our retailers with revenue building by attracting a wider base of customers who already visit our websites,” said Stuart Langeveldt, head of marketing and communication for AMP Capital Shopping Centres.

AMP is also developing an iPhone app which features special retailers offers, news and events, parking reminders, fashion finder, wayfinding, centre map and centre information. The app, downloadable via Apple's app store, will be initially launched at Warringah Mall.
